Your Questions
Answered

What days does Sailability Queensland sail?

Sailiability Queensland does  not conduct sailing itself. Rather it supports all other Sailability Clubs in Queensland. You can check with the club closest to you about their program. Links to each club are found by scrolling down our home page.

When do clubs sail?

Each club has designated sailing days and you can check with them. Usually clubs operate during school terms.

How much is the sailing fee?

Fees vary from club to club depending on local costs and overheads. Generally, fees range from $10 to $20 for a 30 to 40 minute sail.

Do your clubs have insurance?

Yes. Each club is insured for Public Liability and Accident. Our boats are also insured. You can view our Public Liability certificate here.

Is sailing with Sailability safe?

Sailing with us is extremely safe. We use craft to suit local conditions. Our most popular boat is the Access 303 dinghy. The Access is designed specifically for people with disability; it won't capsize and is very comfortable. All of our skippers are trained sailors.

Do I need to make a booking for my client?

In most cases it is desirable to book a sailing experience. The booking process varies between clubs. Importantly, if you can't make it to sailing please tell us, as we will usually be able to offer your appointment to another person.

Can a Sailability club be established in our area?

Once a need for disability sailing is established in your area, other things need consideration for a club to succeed, including:

  • A suitable sailing site with dock and hoist capacity for transfers, basic amenities, and approvals from various authorities

  • Available storage for boats and equipment

  • Support from local organisations such as sailing clubs, service clubs and businesses

  • A volunteer base with the skills to operate the club, and

  • Financial viability over the longer term.

If you believe these requirements can be achieved, we would be pleased to hear your ideas. You can contact us here.
